In what can be termed as a goal feast, Manchester United destroyed Roma by defeating them 7-1 in a UEFA Champions League quarterfinal. Playing at Old Trafford, it was a dazzling display of attacking football by Red Devils stung by the loss against Portsmouth in the English Premier League (EPL). This victory means that Manchester United have entered into the semifinal of UEFA Champions League after a gap of couple of years. They will now face the winner of Bayern Munich or Inter Milan in the semifinal.
England mid fielder Michael Carrick started the goal rout, receiving the ball from in-form Cristiano Ronaldo. Striker Alan Smith scored the second goal for Manchester United followed by a brilliant strike from Wayne Rooney. Ronaldo who was brilliant through out the match added two of his own either side of half time while another from Carrick and a goal from defender Patrice Evra completed the rout. If Manchester United continue to play in the same vain they can win both the EPL title as well as UEFA Champions League but remember that Chelsea are also in the fray in both championships.
